Monty Python & Silicon Valley

John Page, one of the interviewees in Programmers at Work, originally from England and an early proponent of paying attention to the user experience when designing software, is quite a sage with a sense of humor. He sent me a note recently as the many AI companies prepare to IPO about how popular Monty Python is among software engineers (thus the Python Language) and a link to this YouTube video which he dubbed “four Silicon Valley Engineers after an IPO”. What kind of race are we in today? We are a long way from the early days of the PC when companies were small comparatively, yet Monty Python still offers entertaining commentary on the state of minds and affairs as we witness the race to IPO among AI companies like SpaceX.
